George St Commercial Vehicle Access Information

If you need to deliver to George Street in the city, we’ve received some helpful information…..

If you find this post useful, please consider visiting the commercial drivers’ page on the MySydney website to find more information about working in the CBD during construction.

Latest information is first with older notices below

April 2016

There will be traffic changes within the construction zone on George Street between Grosvenor and Alfred streets from this weekend. The traffic changes outlined below are required to facilitate the change to the set-up of the light rail work site, including line marking and traffic signals.

Friday 15 April 2016 from 10pm

There will be no left turn access for vehicles from Grosvenor Street to George Street. George Street northbound traffic will be closed between Grosvenor and Essex Street until approximately 2am on Saturday morning to facilitate works. Signage will direct traffic to the best route for access to the construction zone. While you will encounter less congestion by using Hickson Road to enter and leave The Rocks, you can access George Street via Harrington and Essex streets or Bridge, Loftus and Alfred streets. This traffic change will remain in place until further notice.

Sunday 17 April 2016 from 12:30am to 5am

The general access lane through this construction zone will be temporarily closed to all traffic on the morning of Sunday 17 April from 12:30am to 5am. All local traffic requiring access during this time will be escorted through the zone by traffic controllers via a holding area in Essex Street. Please reschedule deliveries before 12.30am or after 5am during this temporary closure, where possible.
